Strategic IT and AI advisory — pragmatic, peer-level, without big-firm overhead.

For 35 years I have worked in technology — starting as an engineer, growing into leadership, and ultimately advising organisations at board level on their most consequential technology decisions: capital markets, global banks, and government agencies across Asia and Europe. Malaysia is not just a market for me. It is where I live and build my advisory practice — a Swiss professional who chose to be in Malaysia.
From 2019 to 2022, I served as Technology Advisor to the Board of Bursa Malaysia. I attended board sessions as an independent technology advisor through the COVID-19 pandemic, advising on IT governance, cybersecurity, and digital transformation at the highest level.
Before that, I spent more than 20 years at IBM Financial Services Asia Pacific — in roles including Distinguished Engineer, responsible for IBM's technology strategy and client advisory across the region. I have worked with banks and regulators across Asia, and understand what technology decisions look like in Malaysia's specific regulatory environment.
Today I work as an independent IT and AI advisor. AI is transforming both business and IT — but in different ways. What AI means for the business is a different question from what AI means for IT. Generative AI is accelerating both: new business models, new risks, and new governance obligations — including the need for boards to understand explainable AI (XAI) and where algorithmic decisions can and cannot be trusted. Both are connected, but each requires a different answer. That is where I add value: pragmatic, peer-level, without big-firm overhead.
Strategic IT and AI advisor on a monthly retainer — directly for management teams. I think alongside you before decisions are made: generative AI adoption, vendor selection, digital transformation, IT governance, cybersecurity strategy. No big-firm budget required.
Independent IT and AI expertise at board or advisory committee level. I bring what most boards lack: deep technical judgment on AI — including generative AI and explainable AI (XAI) — direct board-level experience, and the ability to make complex technology decisions understandable to non-technical directors.
For ASEAN organisations entering or partnering with Switzerland — and for Swiss firms seeking a trusted technology entry point into Southeast Asia. I understand both sides: culturally, commercially, and technologically.
"I work discreetly with a small number of clients on a retainer basis — thinking through scenarios, weighing options, so that IT and AI positions are presented in the boardroom with solid arguments and genuine confidence."

A framework for aligning technology infrastructure with strategic business objectives — written for executives and technology leaders navigating large-scale digital transformation.
The central thesis: organisations that neglect their technology backbone pay for it when transformation becomes urgent. In the age of AI, this lesson has never been more relevant — especially for ASEAN organisations moving fast on digital.
